On 26 October 2023, the Integrated Waste Management Association of Covasna County, in partnership with the Green Sun Association, Gosp-Com kft, continued the series of visits to the Integrated Waste Management Centre in Let, which started in the past years. On Thursday morning, senior pupils from the Végh Antal Elementary School in Csernáton visited the Waste Management Centre, which opened at the end of 2017. The curious students and their chaperones were welcomed by representatives of ECO Bihor Ltd. Photos of the visit are available on the association’s Facebook page.

In the summer weather, the students were interested to see every corner of the 16-hectare farm, expressing their surprise and interest in the various large-capacity machines. The organisers consider it important to continue this year with visits by children to the waste treatment centre, as truly effective environmental education must start at an early age. It is essential that we understand and start to reduce the waste we produce and collect it separately! The aim of the visit was to raise awareness about the importance of separate waste collection, encouraging them to respect the rules, as the future cleanliness of our children, of all of us, and the iron in our waste accounts depend on it.

During the visit, we learned, among other things, that in recent years, the Let village waste treatment centre has received tens of thousands of tonnes of waste, much of which could still be recycled today if it were placed in the selective collection containers rather than the municipal collection containers.  At the end of the visit, the pupils were given a small gift pack to take home.
