From Friday to Sunday, the Green Sun Association organized the 13th edition of the Spring Green Days in Târgu Secuiesc. Participants had the opportunity to engage in sports competitions, roundtable discussions, exhibitions, and lectures, with the program also featuring the seventh Armenian national evening.

The waste collection action scheduled for Friday morning was postponed due to rainy weather for a later date. The afternoon began with a roundtable discussion in the Sportszálló meeting room, where the Civil Organizations Federation of Covasna County (CIVEK) once again announced the competition for Civil Organization of the Year and Volunteer of the Year. Together with the local Sportiroda and Kendu Association, a bicycle skill competition was also organized, with the participation of many school-age children.

Saturday morning started with sports activities as the association’s volunteers, along with Sportiroda, organized an amateur table tennis championship for all interested participants. The event took place at the Gábor Kicsid Sports Hall, with over forty participants registering. In the evening, the seventh Armenian national evening was held in the festive hall of the Vigadó Cultural House, where Alik Mazmanyan and Mariam Evanesyan, ESC volunteers for the “Heal the Earth, Reloaded Edition II” project, who arrived in Târgu Secuiesc at the end of September 2022 for a year of volunteering, presented an interactive exhibition about their home country. The “Hungarian voice” was provided by Kincső Barbara Kató, a student at Dr. Csiha Kálmán Reformed College, who translated the presented information from English into Hungarian. The one-and-a-half-hour presentation began with an overview of the historical and geographical features of the country, followed by presentations of attractions, traditional costumes, and famous personalities. Regarding the theme of the most important holidays, it was mentioned that Armenians particularly appreciate festivals based on various culinary delicacies. A special celebration mentioned was Vardavar, during which people walking on the streets splash each other with water for soul purification. As a surprise during the presentation, they had the opportunity to listen to an Armenian poem presented by Dávid Szekrény-Asatryan.

On Sunday, following tradition, a series of conferences took place. The first speaker was Andrea Borsó, Edina Fábián and Tímea-Barbara Szabó, who spoke about Târgu Secuiesc as an eco-friendly city, Kocsis Enikő about the benefits of dance, and Nagy Lajos, a photographer, gave an interesting lecture on nature photography. József Szántó presented the secrets of traditional honey bread preparation. After the break, Kozma Orsolya talked about waste-free and sustainable nutrition, while Andrea Hodor presented a demonstration with images about bakeable clay: a range of possibilities. The event concluded with the presentation of painted ceiling panels. Thirty pieces were exhibited, providing a glimpse into reproductions of ceiling panels from three churches—the Reformed church in Zabola, the Reformed church in Kézdimartonfalva, and the Reformed church in Saint Gheorghe. Regarding the success of the project and the work of the specialty circle, Emese Kis, the program coordinator, stated, “In 2021 and 2022, we have already successfully won two circle activities at the National Institute of Culture, and thanks to the third contest won this year, students of pedagogical education were able to learn about the secrets of furniture painting from Mária Magdolna Dénes and Ilona Kovács. Students from the Bod Péter Pedagogical High School also participated in the event: Csiszer Brigitta, Nagy Oláh Adrien, Pakó Kamilla, Ráduly Blanka, Szabó Szilvia, and Tímea-Barbara Szabó.

At the end of the thirteenth edition, Ráduly Attila reflected on the event whose slogan was “A day for tomorrow, for climate! The basis of our existence is the preservation of the diversity of wildlife.” He concluded, “We will organize the event next year regardless of the number of participants. I think one day for tomorrow and for the climate is not enough; we want to dedicate at least two days to this purpose. And currently, our event is the only one in Kézdiszék that lasts for three days and deals with green topics, having a varied program that appeals to all age groups. We must think that the basis of our existence is the preservation of the diversity of wildlife, and we must draw attention to this aspect at the population level.”
