August 28-30 Green Sun Association organized a three days long environmental awareness camp in Szentkatolna. The aim of the camp was to make children aware about the importancy of environmental protection. The camp was supported by the Covasna County Waste Management Association and the Aquacov Community Development Association as well. 30 children and volunteers participated from the following localities: Kézdivásárhely, Uzon, Dálnok, Szentlélek, Bodok and Szentkatolna.
On Monday morning already the camp was opened, and when all children arrived the program began. During the activity the children started to know each other, and they were separated by groups.
Monday evening EVS volunteer Isabel taught children the Spanish famous dances. The children was happy and full with energy. Tuesday morning after morning gymnastics and zumba were held various discourses with the children about selective waste collection and healthy nutrition were emphasized. In the afternoon the participants took part in craft workshops (PET bottles, rags, newsprint, yoghurt boxes, etc.) to make various ornaments and utensils. After dinner, the children watched a movie. On Wednesday, participants attended the Integrated Disposal Center in Lécfalva and the Wastwater Treatment Station in Kézdivásárhely, where children could gain insight into the secrets of sustainable waste management and responsible water management.
The closing ceremony was held on Wednesday evening with an evaluation of the player’s tasks, and it was a pleasure to know how much they learned in this few days. Each participant would like to come back next year in the camp.
