Today I want to speak about one of the benefits that I gain during my volunteering project. Being in a foreign country I decided to start life with new rules, trying to do things that I had used to postponed. So I have started traveling, hitchhiking, getting new acquainted and so on. Today I wanna tell about people whom I met.
... the first thing that struck my eye was kind and responsive people. One of them (a station worker) agreed to look after our stuff until the bus arrived. We had for about six hours and we decided to go on foot to explore the city. Of course, it wouldn't have been us if we hadn't decided to eat something first. One of the most vivid memories from this trip. We ordered as much as if there would be a whole banquet, We drank wine, the mood was rising, we started laughing more and more, telling stories. It was our first dinner together, it was hard to imagine that we didn't know each other until that day. We was laughing as hard as if we had known each other for a long time.
I have been in Romania as a volunteer less than two months. Many of my friends considered this project a senseless waste of time, that it wouldn’t help me to find a profession and I would waste a year in vain. But even two monthes have not passed since that time I already feel tremendous changes in my life.
Since my student days, I've used to worked hard to earn money, but never thought about my future profession. Every day I wanted to try something new, go somewhere, do extreme sports or just meet a sunraise with my friends carefree. But instead of making them come true, I came up with excuses, I didn't have enough strength to do it after work and on the only day off I preferred to just sleep.
After long-last working days we got a few days off and decided to go to Constanta through Bucharst. Frankly speaking, my first impression was ambivalent. There are a lot of bulky buildings, a lot of billboards, also in some places you can notice the post-soviet spirit, and absolutely everywhere you can see all kinds of grafity and street art. At first I thought about vandalism. How can the local authorities allow such kind of defacement in the heart of the city. But there was nothing to do, our train to Constanta must leave at 5:45 in the morning and, as budget tourists, we had to wander around the city until that time.
I want to tell you about my first sunrise with my new friends. It was the first time I got up so early willingly. As it turned out it wasn’t vainly. We were sitting on stones at the seaside, and the balmy sea breeze was playing with my hair tooking away all my secondary thoughts along with the waves. And here it is. It’s outlines were visiable on the other side of horizon.
It weared his lilac dressings which then got pink, yellow, ruby red and at the end it became dazzing gold. You could see all the gradient of emotions: sadness, contemp, maybe even scorn, harmony and at the end of this ranging emotions it showed us it’s happiest and brightest side. It seems like she was reliving all my spector of emotions with me.
