Volunteers from Latvia at Targu Secuiesc

‘The Benefits of Volunteering,’ a presentation organized by the CIVEK Office and the Green Sun Association was held in the meeting room of the Democratic Centre in Targu Secuiesc. Photos taken at this event can be seen on the facebook page of the Green Sun Association.

Dita Mancēviča and Miks Kancevičs, the two volunteers from Latvia performing voluntary activities at the CIVEK office, did a presentation on the EVS (European Voluntary Service) project, which is part of the Youth in Action EU Programme, and talked about its benefits as well. The aim of the European Voluntary Service is to allow young people (18–30 years) to become a volunteer at a non-governmental organization, in another European country, for a specified period, normally between 2–12 months. By participating in voluntary activities, young volunteers can gain working experience, learn a new language and get acquainted with the culture and traditions of the host country. Those present at this event found out some interesting facts about Latvian culture and gastronomy. At the end of the one-hour presentation in English, many questions were asked, among which one that inquired about Dita and Mick’s opinion about Szekler friendliness. The organizers would like to thank the interpreting services of the English teacher, György Andrea.
