share on:

Fozocoș George has been part of the association for more than a year and a half, and during this time he has met a lot of cooperative, kind people, people he can rely on. He won the Volunteer of the Year award with a total of 445 volunteer hours. The members of the association highly appreciate his work and this is why he was chosen Volunteer of the Year 2022. The management of the organization would like to thank George for his perseverance and hope that his enthusiasm will remain unbroken in the future! The interview conducted by Enikő Hodor can be read below:

How did you get in touch with the Zöld Nap Association? How long have you been volunteering? I know Attila and the association for years from the sports base, where I also work, because many programs organized by the association take place in the Sports Hall and in the conference room of Hostel Sport. I started volunteering in the association in October 2021, I am present at events when I have free time.

Why did you decide to help the team by volunteering? What motivates you in this? I attended a lot of events at the sports base, I liked the work of the association, so I decided that it is better to spend my free time volunteering than, for example, watching TV at home. Motivation comes from the fact that there is always the opportunity to meet new people, to work in a team and to participate in more and more interesting events.

They say that the more you give, the more you get back. Do you agree with this? I agree, because I am part of a team, we help people, the environment and the community. You can experience it especially when the children participating in the organized camps are happy because we are there, we take care of them, we play with them, or after a garbage collection campaign, the places look better and we are not surrounded by so much garbage.

Many people don't volunteer because they think they can make money in all that time. What can money compensate for? Unfortunately, in today's world everything is about money, but for me, money is not everything, there are things that can compensate money, such as the feeling of knowing that you are doing good, seeing the participants enjoying the events organized.

According to bad mouths, volunteers are not actually driven by the desire to help, but to expand their network of contacts, for example. What do you think about this? I decided to volunteer out of the desire to help, but I can affirm the fact that I have met a lot of new people, both from the surroundings, the country and abroad, since I have been volunteering.

This year you were awarded "Volunteer of the Year". What do we need to know about it? It is a nice feeling to know that you have been awarded with this title, it means that your work has been appreciated and I would like to thank the Zöld Nap Association team for this opportunity.

What did you do to win this award? My task at the association is to actively participate in the programs, where we do everything in our power to make the event as successful and well organized as possible.

What advice do you have for those who are still hesitant to volunteer? It's never too late to try volunteering, I recommend it to everyone, especially young people, because people learns as long as he lives and here you have the opportunity to develop in many ways.

If you are also interested in volunteering, all you have to do is look for an organization whose goals you can identify with.
